Buffalo is a friend of mine and though I never call her
she always seems to be around each and every corner
she always comes around—it’s like I can’t avoid her
as she dances through the park dressed up like Elvis
she swears that she is close to god, although she hasn’t met him
she got a bible in the mail and we’re going to Graceland in December

Buffalo is a connoisseur of all things unimportant
and a master of nothing in particular
she knows her way and some would say it’s best to rest than stay and play
but then, she would beg to differ
she said—“everyone gather ‘round, I’m handing out my riches
of course my worth amounts to earth on any common market”
no one seems to notice—at least not in the conscious
she spins around and says “I’ve found—the reason that I left Columbus”

once again I came up close to empty

dropping notes she never wrote from patterns of her memory
